Nurse Practitioner (Remote, Telehealth) – Independent Contractor (Hourly)

True U Clinic is a telehealth practice dedicated to evidence-based, gender-affirming care and hormone management for transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse people across multiple U.S. states. We’re a nimble, mission-driven team of nurse practitioners focused on safe, respectful, and timely access to care.

The Role
We’re seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners to deliver virtual gender-affirming care (adolescents and/or adults, depending on your experience and licensure). This is a 1099 independent contractor role, paid hourly (see Compensation). Schedules are flexible within clinic hours; weekend or evening availability is a plus. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide telehealth visits (initial consults, follow-ups) for gender-affirming hormone therapy, including shared decision-making, informed consent, and individualized care plans.

  • Order, interpret, and act on labs; coordinate prescriptions; document thoroughly in the EHR.

  • Educate patients and families on medications, injection techniques, side-effect monitoring, and safety.

  • Collaborate with support staff for scheduling, labs, and prior authorizations; escalate urgent concerns appropriately.

  • Uphold True U protocols, HIPAA, and state practice standards; participate in chart reviews and QA as applicable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active, unencumbered RN and APRN/NP license(s) in at least one U.S. state; ability/willingness to obtain additional state licenses.

  • National board certification (e.g., FNP, AGNP, PMHNP) with documented experience in endocrine, primary care, or gender-affirming care.

  • Telehealth experience, strong clinical judgment, and outstanding written/verbal communication.

  • Comfortable working independently within protocols; reliable high-speed internet and private, professional workspace.

  • Able to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensure in one or more of our current service states (see trueuclinic.com/coverage-areas).

  • Experience with adolescents and families; familiarity with informed consent models for those 18+ yrs old and WPATH-aligned care.

  • Spanish or other language proficiency.

  • Lived experience as transgender, nonbinary, or gender diverse is welcomed and a plus.

Work Setup & Support

  • 100% remote telehealth; HIPAA-compliant EHR and messaging platform provided.

  • Orientation to workflows, templates, and protocols; responsive clinical/admin support.

  • You provide your own computer, webcam, headset, internet, and a private setting.

Time Commitment

  • Part-time, flexible scheduling. Minimum 8 hrs weekly availability. Please indicate typical weekly availability windows in your application.

Compensation & Classification

  • 1099 Independent Contractor (no benefits).

  • Hourly equivalent range: $80–$100/hour, paid per-visit as follows:

    • Initial visits: $80 per 60-minute block

    • Follow-ups: $50 per 30-minute block

  • Malpractice coverage for your work with True U Clinic

Compliance & Patient Safety

  • Strict adherence to HIPAA, state telehealth rules, scope of practice, and prescribing regulations.

  • Participation in quality assurance activities, timely documentation, and secure data handling are required.
