Protecting life-saving, gender-affirming care for transgender and gender-diverse folks

Our Mission

The Access Fund For Inclusive, Resilient Medicine (AFFIRM) exists to ensure that transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse people—especially those under 19—retain uninterrupted access to safe, evidence-based gender-affirming care regardless of political, financial, or institutional barriers.

Partnering with True U Clinic and (fiscal sponsor), AFFIRM directly subsidizes appointments, medication management, labs, and care coordination so that no person is forced to choose between safety, health, and their future.

How AFFIRM Helps

AFFIRM channels tax-deductible donations directly into care for those who would otherwise go without with a focus on youth. Working with True U Clinic, we:

  • Subsidize telehealth visits for gender-affirming medical care.

  • Support medication management and related lab work.

  • Provide care navigation to help families safely move between systems and states.

  • Prioritize youth who have lost access due to program shutdowns or coverage restrictions.

Every dollar goes toward keeping real young people connected to evidence-based care, delivered by clinicians who are committed to affirming, trauma-informed practice.

Our Values

AFFIRM is guided by equity, compassion, privacy, and harm reduction. We believe that:

  • Every person deserves affirming care, dignity, and autonomy.

  • Financial hardship should never determine whether someone receives medically necessary treatment.

  • Families navigating this crisis deserve clarity, support, and trusted clinical partners.

The Crisis We’re Responding To

Federal and administrative actions are rapidly dismantling the healthcare infrastructure that supports competent, compassionate gender-affirming care for youth and adults.

  • Proposed rules would bar institutions providing gender-affirming care to minors from participating in Medicaid and Medicare, prompting hospitals and community clinics to preemptively discontinue their programs.

  • Funding bodies have signaled plans to deprioritize support for clinics engaged in this work, pushing some programs to close and leaving many more on the brink.

As these systems contract, thousands of transgender and gender-diverse people—especially low-income and rural youth—are at immediate risk of losing medically necessary care. Loss of access to gender-affirming care is linked to increased depression, anxiety, suicidality, and family instability.

Access is collapsing—but care does not have to.
